Whitefield's music dwells in the in-between. Songs that ask ancient questions through raw emotion and hypercolour texture.
Based in Sydney since 2012, Whitefield have developed their sound across years of shows and studio time, playing to fans throughout the states of Australia, and releasing their music to the world.
After success with their debut self-titled release in 2012 and then Prone to Wander EP in 2015 (reaching number 2 on the Inspirational iTunes charts), Whitefield spent over a year in the studio refining and reinventing their sound to release their long-awaited follow up album: Cinematic (2018).
Filled with colourful melodies and honest lyrics, moments of 80's inspired synths and guitars, and the right balance of reflective moodiness and energy-filled pop, Whitefield's Cinematic has been received well. The single What Are You Waiting For has currently received over 400K streams on streaming service Spotify, whilst also having remained in the TCM charts for over 10 weeks in 2018, reaching peak position of 19.
Cinematic’s follow-up single Ivy then enjoyed success as it received 2nd place in the Adult Album Alternative category of the Unsigned International Songwriting Competition (2019).
Whitefield’s songwriter and frontman, Scott Lavender has previously been nominated as a finalist for other songwriting competitions, including Australia’s MusicOz Competition (2017).
